Caliper Rebuild kit?

I can get a rebuild kit for the rear calipers on my son's '83 380SEL but it will take a couple of days. The dust covers look good, just leaking brake fluid.

It's just an o-ring that's bad so is there anything special about that o-ring? If I can find a high temperature viton o-ring that's the same size (from a local hydraulic hose shop), can I use it??

Viton is good to 1450psi and 400F for extended periods, the best rating of the common o-ring materials.

Thanks,
Mike

No Mike. As you know I just did mine and the O ring is square not round in cross-section.

Stealership would have to order it and it would be "between $36 and $86, depending on which brand of caliper".

The major brand auto parts stores ( Autozone, Checkers, Pep Boys, Napa) either can't get the kit or want "5-7 working days" to get the kit here.

Found a place called Nevada Brakes here in Vegas that for all of $23, will have the kit here tomorrow. I ordered two.

Thanks for the help!!
