The 1991 ASR light.
Going by the 1991 S class US spec sales brochure, the best I can figure is this:
You could NOT buy the ASR and THE ASD options BOTH at the same time for the 300SE. But you could buy either of them as an option for this model.
When they came on, a small orange box on the speedometer cluster (right at near where 160 kph would be) would illuminate, with a picture inside the little orange box, with an exclamation point inside a triangle would light up.
The ASD illumination light, located, between the CEL on right, and the SRS light on the left, in the catalogue, *appears* to be red, and the CEL appears orange. But the colors aren't clear and there is no picture for the ASR light, in the picture, but its (ASR) location would be where the ASD lamp shows.
I specifically looked for and purchased, a US spec '91 560SEC WITHOUT wither the ASR or ASD option. When you turn on the ignition all the warning lights along the bottom of the dashboard illuminate for a moment, to show you the BULBS are ok, and on my car, where the ASR or ASD lights would be, between the CEL on right and the SRS on the left, show two blank, unilluminated spaces where the warninbg light would be.
Does this shed a "lght" on things or muddy the waters further?
Ask mclare, he has a '91 560SEC with the ASR, and it gave him a lot of trouble, where his ASR light is, and what color it is.
