:Hi all - have a good running 300sd, 85. yesterday I adjusted the sound fade switch on the centre console and drove about 30 miles. got to my destination and closed the windows that work - F passenger, Driver, Rear Driver side. the Rear Passenger wont go all the way up even by hand - stuck about 2" down. The only window that opens by power now is the driver, but the bad rear passenger also responds to downward movement. the other two windows do nothing when I press the center console switch. ANy ideas other than fuses? How do I fix the rear pass problem as well? THANKS!

I assume they all worked fine before? Did you try cleaning the switches with some contact cleaner? I just had a front passenger window respond only to down and wouldn't go up. Couple of shots of cleaner and rockered it several times and it functions again. I'll be ordering both front switches as they look like hell and will clash with the "new" interior.

There are a few little holes in the back of switches that you can get the spray into. It usually is pretty strong flow coming out of the can/nozzle and will wash in there pretty good. Might have the stuff at auto supply house but I've never looked. Find a contact or switch cleaner/lubricant at Radio Shack or the like. I use some avionics stuff that I get from an aircraft supply house. WD40 would be a last resort.

One thread in the archive (with pictures) shows how to dis assemble and clean/fix the switches.
Have you tried a forum search? If not sure how, please re visit the 'Welcome to the Forum' tutorial sticky on top of the W126 page.
Cheers
Before I went spraying anything inside a switch I would check to make sure that is the problem. Get a wiring diagram from a motors manual at the library. Then use that information to check and mack sure you are getting electricity to the places that need it. In other words trace the diagram for juice and continuity.
Because you said you had done some work on a park that was electrical I suspect that you inadvertently dislodged something and that's causing your problem.
I have a 1984 300sd that had a driver side rear window problem I used the wiring diagram to help me fix the problem.
