Per your phone conv with me this afternoon I think we (you, Chardahar and I could make do with even one room, 2 queens and a rollway, after all, what they are being used for is only to sleep at night, and nothing else.)
If teutone could find out if The Sportmens Lodge could fill up one such room at $70 to $100 a night, and I am not dreaming, this would work fine, while Justin could investigate what's next door.
Keeping things close together for all of us at or near one hotel and close to where teutone lives makes just more sense; it is like a convention that way, we can all get together fast for eating, exploring, assembling to go places, like that.
Lets all try and stay together as best possible. Saving a few pennies wastes time, and camaraderie. in my opinion anyhow.
It looks like for me personally, I will go to Vegas for a couple of days and caravan in from there with them and they will be in their 87 560SEL. (Mike and Gail)
The whole thing will be Mercedes laden events only, as many junkyards as teutone can get us into, the Nethercutt and/or Petersen auto museums, a good Mercedes dealer like MB of Beverly Hills or Encino for Ross to see, the CEC Lorinser place and maybe a few exotic car dealers like JEM on Sunset, and others, thrown in.
And visits to Mercedes junkyards, the more the better, every day. teutone leads on this, he knows ALL
Most of all the Classic Center in Irvine, the OC, can't be missed. Perhaps an hour at most, someone needs to call, them, to see if they are open on Saturday, best for traffic.
Phone # of the classic center is(949) 598-4858, a direct line into the parts department there, a real live person will answer. Someone can check, teutone or Chadaher, maybe. Just call
My OTHER deal, meeting the girls will be at about 6 pm for drinks, dinner at 7 on the Pier area at Newport, it has been set up. That means I need to be myself dressed up and out of there by 4pm Saturday. If you guys were doing a dinner gtg for Ross.
Do it for him on Friday, and I will be there....
My plan therefore personally is to stay hotels I think the nights of July 29,30,31, Aug 1 and 2, leave for NorCal on the 3rd maybe in caravan with Justin back home to the Sacramento area that day, hopefully, both cars loaded with W124.W126 euro junkyard parts we scored.
(To dream costs nothing, "para sonar no cuesta nada" as they say in Spanish.)

Hey Jim, the Classic Center in Irvine is a M-f 8am to 4 pm deal. It takes about an hour and a half from the Sportsmans Lodge to get there in light traffic and about 2 1/2 in traffic. If you need any recommendations about places to hang out or eat at in Newport Beach let me know.
Greg
As a side note..last time I was at MB of Encino they had an SLR in the showroom waiting to be delivered. Thier parts department is also a Monday through Friday thing but they do have one of the best showrooms IMHO.

It was something like that but I don't think the doors swung side ways and up just up. but I could be wrong. I was in the hallway between the parts dept and the showroom and was looking for the 40 years of AMG paperback that they give away. Sales Mrg. couldn't find one for me. I should have walked in there and taken a closer look.

At our Diesel Drive, at Smothers Mercedes Benz, in Santa Rosa, in March, when I came out of the can, through the new car showroom, there was one - just one - of them - left in the sales brochure racks.
I grabbed it immediately and took it with me.
If you want I will bring it along so you can see it in LA. Pretty interesting.

Yeah that is why I went and asked for one! I saw the one you snagged. Why did I just go to the John and not look for brochures???? Why? Why? Actually that brochure is technically half mine...Remember I was the one that told you that the bathroom was in there, where, and we could use it. HALVIES!

Sounds like it is all coming together, we need to determine the Friday and Saturday nights programs and the other day time programs.
I am thinking Tuesday will be a write off, I arrive at 14.15 and then need to clear customs. My body will think it is midnight however and I will have been up since 04.00 (18.00 the previous day LA time) to catch the 'plane in Athens.
The time warp is really going to mess with my head.
