sunroof problem 84 300SD

Tried to open the sunroof first time this year....growled, but no opening....
Went to the trunk and accessed the manual override with a socket and was able to get it to open and close...but with considerable resistance and for only short distances before binding. Tried to spray lubricant (Boshield) into the tracks but only achieved minimal difference.
Ran it back and forth manually a few times but could use direction at this point....Is there a better way to gain access to the tracks? I just do not want to damage the roof motor.
Any help appreciated,
Thanks,
P :surrender:DiGi

I'm going to wager that lubing the rails is not going to fix your problem.. Also, there is a specific lube that mercedes makes just for sun roof rails.. If interested, I have tins available for 10$.. For any normal person this should last Years.

I'd say on top of cleaning/lubing you'll need to adjust the clutch on your sunroof motor.. Do you have the service CD's? The procedure is listed in there.
