Climate con. vacuum issues

I have a passenger side airbag, which complicates things a bit

Just replaced monovalve, so I have cold air now...but...

Now I have full time defrost, no "leg room" air. I've got vacuum at the switch block (check valve is good)

I don't believe the vacuum diagram on the CD's is the same for my car? as the red/yellow (which should control the leg room flap) controls the dash vents.

When bi-level heat is selected, vacuum should be pulling on "leg room" only....air coming out legs and defrost (as defrost is closed only when under vacuum), I get no vacuum from any of the 7 ports.

Anybody else fought this monster?

Rick

I have...it is a vacuum issue...I cannot access the componets as easily (or at all) since I have a passenger side air bag. I was hoping to hear from someone that has had a similar issue, and if they determined if it was the switch block, or not.

Believe me, I am sure to do a "forum search" before I ever post, having been chastised in the past. Perhaps, I am doing so incorrectly. I joined this forum (and supported it w/ $) hoping to get advice from helpful folks and not getting my hand slapped every time I ask a question. It seems I may have been in error.

If anyone can do a proper search, and point me to the thread that addresses this issue, I will be quite greatful so that I do not take any more time of the moderators.

Rick, this is not personal.
It does get annoying for mods to have to point out the search function 20+ times a day, even if only to be able to ask a more specific question.
The welcome tutorial sticky, some members can't be bothered to read, even suggests to google a question, often a short cut to the specific benzworld post.
The heating/climate control section of the service CD's is huge, pick a file, and I post it later tonight

Teutone,

Yes, I'm glad it isn't personal, and I thank you for the offer, but I have the CDs and have spent the last two days pulling everything apart and troubleshooting evertything I can reach. I only have a vacuum reading tool, not one that can pull a vacuum (although I have tried to find one locally), so I cannot do the "Test Vacuum Circuit" (620, 622, 624).

Following the vacuum diagrams, and setting the controls to test the vacuum element to open the leg-room flaps (selection "c", heating) shows no vacuum on any of the switchover valves....so no vacuum to open the leg-room flaps, or any vacuum to close the defroster flaps.

I cannot get to the vacuum elements (due to the airbag), only the switchover valve block...so is it the valve block, the vacuum elements, or the climate control console?

Hence my question as to anyone else having this problem, with a passenger airbag, and possible solutions.
