Neat, but I have to take umbrage at referring to this vehicle as a 'doorslammer'.
First, the door quite literally has no hinges. Secondly, to me at least, a doorslammer is a vehicle which, even if it involves some shall we say, embellishment, manages to be licensed for road use, i.e. it has lights, a horn, is licensed and inspected (if need be), etc. Granted, it ain't gonna pass any smog check, but hey, that's why these cars are always pre-1968 monsters.
I wish there were more specs...like I want to know what kinda boost he pumps through that engine. I like the reference to the Chevy-style engine. Classic.
IIRC, the largest GM production engine was the 8.2L/501 CID Cadillac engine starting in nineteen seventy...um...four. It might have been earlier, but I know it was the beast in the Eldorado.
I always wanted to take a Coupe deVille, something unassuming, like a 1964, stuff a super- and turbo-charged 572 into it, couple that to an automatic which won't require a rebuild every other 3/4+ throttle launch, then go trollin' for fresh-off-the-dealer's-floor ZR1's and the like.
Of course, I'd do my best to Jay Leno-it...keep the wheel covers, do my best to hide what would have to be huge tires, and keep it a low-key factory color, and have it look, to the casual observer, as a regular ole Coupe deVille....
Yeah...it's a regular one which can quarter in 8.5...and take three friends out to lunch, though not simultaneously. Three normal-sized friends would have the ET down to 10, and you'd have three fewer friends as soon as you came to a stop.
Of course, it'd still have power locks, windows, seats, steering, functional A/C, etc.
Man, I wish I could win the PowerBall.... Wait, Nevada, in what must be the most ironic government action, ever, doesn't have a lottery. Can't take money out of casino pockets, y'know....
