Oil pressure ok after oil change????

Ok, so finally got around to changing my oil today--a bit overdue, but not too bad.

Pull out old filter put in new--happy to say the oil plug was not cross threaded, so all is good. Button it all up--AND steady oil pressure.

Before, the needle was bouncing all over the place. After some work to it, and fixing some vaccum lines that had golf tees in them, the oil pressure was better, but still bouncing a bit.

Now, rock steady.

Weird...

I was thinking maybe the rubber o-ring might have been bad, causing a vacuum leak? Possible?

Ok, oil pressure gauge was rock steady. Found a vacuum leak in my brake booster line, taped it up until i can get a replacement... Idle dropped, and now the oil pressure gauge is haywire again.

Maddening...

This is normal and is caused both by the oil filter letting the pressure through and different parameters of the oil.

I switch brands of oil quite often and every batch behaves differently, sometimes it's a steady 3, sometimes it drops to 1.5... sometimes after 7000 miles it starts dropping to 2 and sometimes it doesn't.

Usually a freshly changed oil holds a steady 3 bar.
