w126/w140 4.2 motors

What is the difference with the 4.2 ltr motor in the W140 that gives it so much more power than the w126 165kw/214kw.

The W140 engine is a M119 while the W126 engine is an M116, hence the difference in output.

Different engines, the M119 is more modern and efficient. The M117 is an engine from the 70's.

OK until jonthan or talbir post with more info on this one, the 4.2 M119 has higher compression close to 11:1, the M119 is a DOHC with better fuel management, intake design, VVTi, better ignition etc.
The differences that count are the DOHC, VVti and the most important - higher comp ratio.
