It sounds to me like insurance in the US is expensive. We have a Mercedes Club scheme with one of the insurance companies. On the older Mercs they are prepared to accept an "agreed valuation" from the Mercedes Club, provided your car does not cover more than 10 000 miles per year. For comprehensive cover on the 126 and 123, I pay about $9 per month on each car. I have never had a claim so far, so I don't know how they will react!!

I've had my car 11 months and i've already driven it 17 or 18 thousand miles, I don't see a <10,000 mile plan being ideal for many people. great if it's not your daily driver though... every day i crank it up I go at least 60 miles (school) or 80 miles (work)... so mine add up pretty fast. (I don't live 60 miles from my school, just 30, those are round trip figures).
