88' 560SEL Door Locks

Ok all of a sudden my door locks have stopped working. I can of course lock and unlock each door manually, but none of the automatic locking or unlocking?

I tried seaching this forum but each time it timed out and failed.

Can someone give me a few things to look for first or better yet explain the system. I have a wiring diagram for the locks but it doesn't actually tell you where things actually are and what's a good troubleshooting checklist.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time...

RE: 88' 560SEL Door Locks

When mine did that, it was a blown fuse.

The fuse was blown because one of the rear under-door lights had come loose, gotten slammed in the door, the plastic broke, and the socket grounded to the frame of the car or something and blew the fuse... my dad figured it out finally.

IDK which fuse number, should be a diagram... but check for a blown fuse before you get too involved with the vacuum system.

Could be a vacuum line slipped loose, or perhaps (but not as likely, in my opinion) a suddenly-failed vacuum pump... but failing a fuse I"d look for a broken vacuum line, and I"m sorry I don't know where to look for the specific ones... perhaps somebody who's done it will give you a map.

RE: 88' 560SEL Door Locks

Well I have a burnt fuse and I know when I purchased the vehicle about a month ago all the fuses were intact.

Thanks!
