126 trailer hitch - White500se still got one? I need one!
?: I need a (v. low weight rated) trailer hitch for a 126. Any ideas? White500se from Washington, you said you had one to sell -- still have it? I'm in Victoria BC Canada. Will p/u.
New to 126's and a newly registered member, though I have been looking over your shoulders and gathering critical info for upkeep of my 1990 420 SEL -- many thanks one and all. I have a 5.0 mustang lx as well and just as you can't compare the cars, you can't compare the related forums -- that's a compliment.
I need to put a trailer hitch on the beautiful lady in order for her to carry my Dad's scooter-carrier/ramp thingy (It's going to be his car now but I'll help out as I want to keep getting to know this wonderful machine).
I've searched the trailer hitch related posts and confirmed what I already suspected: hitches are hard to find or need to be custom fabricated but can be installed by a competant mechanic. Pretty much standard situation for a mercedes. Also: hitches4less.com didn't seem to have anything.
So.... I live West Coast Canada. Does anyone have one they'd part with? Anyone know where I could purchase a ready-made? I don't want to shell out labour$$ but need this done or Dad is stuck driving a beater Olds.
RE: 126 trailer hitch - White500se still got one? I need one!
I've still got it. It's onmy list of things to do but I'll need the body shop to weld up the trunk before I can remove it- right now it's what's holding the bumper on.
Cyberdrakon has first dibs on it but if he doesn't want it it can be yours. Not sure it will work however as it's a bolt on and is designed to work with Euro bumpers, is that what yours has?

Thanks white500se,
Jonathan has one in Atlanta and I'm looking into the shipping costs. I can't recall if you'd mentioned in the other post whether you had it installed or you purchased wehicle with it attached.
What I'm driving at is whether you have any installation advice/info to impart. Thanks again

Hitch has been on for years. It's stock but the VIN doesn't list it as an option so it was installed sometime later, maybe when it was imported since the first US owner was part owner of a water park, someone I could see pulling a speed boat.
As for installation, since it bolts on it looks easy- trouble is I can't figure out how to get the bumper off w/o removing the hitch and I can't figure out how to get the hitch off w/o first removing the bumper. Then again I usually work on houses not cars. All a moot point because I'll just have the body shop figure it out.
