It took a while, but I had my neighborhood mechanic replace the rear passenger seat reclining switch, and the motor still does not work right. It will recline, but not go back to upright. He ran current to the motor, and was able to move it back and forth, so we know that works and it is not jammed. The switch on the rear driver's side door also does not do anything to move the seat. Do both switches need to be good in order for the whole thing to work? Is there some other part that would be controlling this seat? There is power to the passenger side switch, but I don't know for sure about the other side.
Thanks for any ideas,
Burgie
The switches are not depending on each other. Does the motor get energized on the return? If no, then it is a switch or wiring problem. If yes, then it could be that the cables from the motor to the seat gears are in bad shape. They are built like a speedometer cable. There are two of them. But based on your description, it is unlikely that both of them went. I suspect the switch and/or wiring. If you need a wiring diagram, contact me directly.
