Certainly not my intention to restoke the the W126-v-W140 debate. FatTony merely stated his potential interest and thought some balancing comments might be helpful.
Having run W140s as daily business drivers over three years I have always had them serviced on schedule within the MB franchise. With more than 100,000(imperial) miles to date they have never let me down. These cars are complicated and if you try to run them and cut corners with maintenance they go bad on you.
Perhaps the lesson is pick your W140 with comprehensive service records and be prepared to continue with the high cost of maintaining it. If you cannot make that financial commitment stay away from them.
Same applies to the R129. R107 is a different proposition altogether..... it`s really a W126 with two doors and an eighteen year production period over which time DB honed it to perfection.
I was looking at this post and then I remembered seeing a reference to transmissions and the 560 engine. It was in the link that you included for "cheap Benz parts".
IT WORKS! MY CAR WORKS! MY WHORE LOVES ME BACK (for now)
Always always always ALWAYS buy Mercedes parts. I purchased an aftermarket fuel pump relay, and it improved the problem a little bit. Enough to where you think it's something else.
I purchased a brand new, Mercedes original FPR from the dealer and the car runs like new! No longer for sale.
Well, let me re-phrase that. I will no longer take $4500 for it, because now it works!

Well, not always, it just pays to know what you can go aftermarket on and what you can't.. Which is one the main points I make w/ what I do. When it makes a differene I sell genuine, when it doesn't I'll save you $$ w/ aftermarket...Simple as that.
Glad she's back on the road again!
