W126 High Mount Brake Light

The high mount brake light housing on my 560SEC is falling apart. I seached the archives and came up with the following website:

www.danielsternlighting.com.

He has an aftermarket model available for $37. Also, you may want to check out his other products. I have no connection to him, just passing along the info...

RE: W126 High Mount Brake Light

They have H4 bulbs for your Euros…

http://www.danielsternlighting.com/

This is a ‘fun fact’:

“H4 bulbs
These 2-filament bulbs with P43t base are for high/low beam headlamps and Cibié BiOscar fog/drive beam lamps. Fun facts: The H4 was the world's first 2-filament halogen automotive bulb. It was introduced in Europe in 1971, and was used in many millions of European and Japanese headlamps starting in that year, but wasn't legalized in the US (where it was designated HB2 or 9003) until over two decades later, in 1992!

Hence the ugly DOT lamps during the entire 126 production run.

Adding a High mount light on 300SD

Hi I have purchased the extra Mercedes High Mount brake light and thought the way to wire it would be easy... well it is not, as it simply does not work. Would anyone here could tell me where does it connect?
I was under the impression that the positive wire would be linked to the brake wire of existing stop lights and that the negative wire would be connected as earth. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated
