Engine cleaning

Hi....new W126 owner here....have gotten great advice in this forum so far...seeking the collective group's wisdom of engine cleaning....any issues to be aware of??? Is a high pressure car wash too much?? Steam clean only?? Need to know....my girl needs a bath!!! Thanks,
