Limited Slip Differential

I was reading this forum on Acuras and this topic was brought up, There is this company out there that makes a part for your differential so that both wheels spin instead of one I know there were some of you out there who had this probelm with there sec and just thought that it might help, I e-mailed them and they said that they would be able to make one for my car in particular they just needed the measurements for between the gears, does anyone know this?[url]http://phantomgrip.com

RE: Limited Slip Differential

That looks very intersting (and cheap!) but i don't quite understand how it works, in the explanation, it's got one screw gear, and a pair of springs...no idea how it fits together to handle their performance estimates!

Do you get it?

RE: Limited Slip Differential

I would be interested in seeing a better description of how this unit works... That aside, if it does work, I would be interested!

My 560 has LSD; in fact I thought all 560's except those with ASR had LSD's.

Most SEL's don't, in fact I can't recall seeing a 560SEL that does. SEC's most always have it, I believe it was standard.

RE: Limited Slip Differential

They do, but the clutches get tired and if 420 diff can be made into a LSD w/ something like this it opens up the possibilites of replacement:)

RE: Limited Slip Differential

Why not swap in a 560 differential. I'm sure they are cheaper than a few thousand that these guys are proposing. I haven't priced 560 differentials but I'd imagine you could get them at $500 all day long.

I have tired clutches in my LSD... Possitively sleepy ones in fact!

Does anyone know how easy they are to replace and costs involved?

RE: Limited Slip Differential

$500 for a used unit. i think these guys are offering their system for $350 or so?

also, this differential is terrible on cornering...no progressive locking, and the clutches will wear out with hard driving.
