Just came back into the office from getting some sunshine. It's about 56 degrees here in Philadelphia today. But, it truly amazes me how many people were looking at my 1987 420 SEL as I either rode by them or was next to them at a light. Some of these people were in their new 2005 BMW's, Maxima's, Volvo's, Explorer's and etc. I guess they were wondering what year my Benz was and how does it still look so good.
o ya thats what makes me take care of my car the best part is when u have fellows in S55 brand new AMG's and they just stare and wonder damn what year is dat baby?? lol i always have ppl ask me how i keep my car lookin so new

Although I’m no longer amazed you’re right, it is amazing. After all this time I still get positive comments about my SEL. I always wash it before I take it out. Well cared for 126s are real head-turners. With modern MBs looking like Hondas (modern B*Ws as well, for that matter) most people don’t know what to make of the beautiful, classic 126. 126s are often mistaken for much newer cars.

That gives me a truly good feeling[:D][:D][:D]
I know the feeling, Prochambers.
I always get a few people checking out my SEC and SEL on a regular basis. These cars are truly head turners. [8D]

i second everthing that was said. the most shocking thing to people is how old the w126 is and how it truly is the the classiest design benz ever came out with! so classy i so humbly compare them to rolls and bentley of there age. current benz's look like nissan maximas and hondas. its really sad. [V]
pics of 1991 rolls royce and bentley models. I look at these pics and say, these were in some cases benz competition, not necessarily in the same league, but production wise, style wise and affordability, the w126 takes the cake!
i know what you guys mean,,,ive only had my sel for a month now,,and living in florida im surrounded by old dudes in new MB's,,,i get alot of waves and double takes,,its like belonging to an exclusive club,,,,I LOVE IT.....ive never put some much money into a car without wanting to sell it,,,lol...in a month....oil change, tune up, front end struts and bushings, brakes/front and back, shocks all the way around, engine and tranny are coming up down the line,,,,,runs great...looks even better,,,199 black opal paint,,powder blue leather....went without her for four days,,,dont think i would have missed the wife in four days as much as i missed my benz......will post pics soon,,,thanks for your help and support,,,,,
Yep, these cars really attract the attention - especially when they are waxed and polished up.
Here in South Orange County, California, Mercedes are one of the more common cars on the road. It is not at all unusual for me to be out driving and to be surrounded by M-Bs - but the 126s still get the attention if they're clean and shiny. I get even more attention in my '89 560SL - especially with the top down. I KNOW its not me they're looking at, so it must be the Panzerwagen.
These cars are design landmarks - that's part of why their production runs were so long. The R/W107 SL was produced from 1971 to 1989; our 126s ran from 1981 to 1991. Few M-B models have had longer runs.
I love it when people check out my benz. I always get compliments on its condition. i think the black on black works really well with the W126 and the long
wheel base makes it even better. I agree the new MB's
dont have style like our cars do. Thanks Mercedes for
the new BLAND design. Our W126's are timeless !
i agree completely,,,and i cant help but notice how the 2005 american cars are modeling themselves after the ugly(no offence meant to those who like em)new MB's,,,,toyota and nissan are guilty as well....
