A friend of mine lent his '83 500 SEC to his step son. It was smashed all over the highway at 160KMH (minimum) 100MPH.
The only part left on the entire car was the left fog light! every other part including all the interior was smashed up beyond repair. wheels came off - roof pressed down - seats riped back... only two wheels touched the ground after that...
the step son was walking two days later
the Benz was sold for 20000NOK ($2860) for someone to rebuild. the only part left was the chassis no.
It's worth alot in Norway
I guess that's why now I just take my time. I enjoy driving my Benz fast at no more than 85 mph. But I only do it when conditions allow. I'm not going to drive like a fool and tear either the car or myself apart. At least he was in a solid car like our MB's to be able to walk two days later.
