ISC Idle speed control

did a test to find that the Idle speed control box is atleast one of my high idle problems. did some searching and found $170 USD for a price of a rebuilt. Any other better prices, and does it matter, new or rebuilt?

RE: ISC Idle speed control

Could you please kindly provide some details about this "test" that could find that the Idle speed control box is atleast one of my high idle problems?

Foe my 1991 560 SEL, a new one costs $260 and I have not found a rebuilt one yet. If the rebuilt one offers warrenty, I will definitely get it.

The remans do well, I sell mine w/ a 1 year warantee. 165 to your door (40$ core charge on top of that, but you get that back etc..)

Let me know if I can be of any assistance!

Hello Jonathan, I am definitely interested in getting a remans w/ a 1 year. Your quote of $165 also sounds fair. Here are my questions:
Do you have one w part # 006-545-8532 and who pays for the shipping of the core?

RE: ISC Idle speed control

is there a way to evaluate the ICU without buying a new one? like can you put a voltage in and check the outputs on other pins?

anybody know?

RE: ISC Idle speed control

In determining my problem. I proformed the Idle Speed Control Test, as printed in my Chilton, 1974-84 repair manuel.
1. Turn the ignition on and off.
2. The idle speed control valve should switch on and off audibly.
3. If it does not, turn the ignition on and disconnect the plug at the idle speed control valve and see if the voltage is present. If it is, replace the valve.
4. If no voltage is present, disconnect the plug on the control unit and check battery voltage between pins 2 (positive) and 4 (negative). If no voltage is present, check the power supply according to the wiring diagram.
5. If there is voltage at pins 2 and 4, bridge pins 1 and 2 and 4 and 5 simultaneously for a maximum of 5 seconds. The idle speed valve should switch audibly.
6. If the valve switches, replace the control unit.
7. If the valve does not switch, check the black and teh black/yellow wires to the idle speed valve for continuity and repair if necessary.

note that during my testin, the control valve worked, as indicated by #2, so then I went down to #5 as #'s 3 and 4 where not applicable. some of their wordings can be confusing, but always refer back to the original yes it does work or no it doesnt...Good Luck!
