The flat black on 500SEL looks surprisingly good. It's a neat effect.

The flat black SEL is my son's car - he painted it with a brush. No, really, he did.

He bought it for $1,000 and the flat black looks much better than the rusty blue original. From 25 feet away it looks pretty good. It has 245,000 miles and runs great - makes a lot of clunking noises over bumps, etc., which is why we refer to it affectionately as "Baron von Clunksalot".

Hey eolon, I noticed that you license plates have the diplomatic bands and colors. I might be wrong.

Some Ohio plates have that color scheme.

MB and diplomatic lic. plates do go well together nevertheless, especially on a W126.

Heh - State of Ohio. If I were a Diplomat, I would have all new Mercedes, and at least one would be a CL600.

Has he considered painting the rims black to match, or even polished up to contrast?
