Since I got my 420 SEL a month ago, I have refinished interior wood, gotten rid of rough idle and stumbling on acceleration, resoldered cold joints on my cruise control amplifier (thus fixing the cruise), and re-dyed my leather to make it like new. The car runs perfect, cruise works great, and I almost want to live inside it. I have spent around $200 so far on all of this. I even made an oil charge machine out of a vacuum cleaner and 5 gallon kerosene can using some 1/4" tubing. All of this is thanks to the online forums and the CD-ROM manuals. This is a great place to learn, and then share what you learn with others. The only thing left to do is replace the timing chain, tensioner and rails since I have 157K miles. I found a MB dealer in Milwaukee that will do it for $400 labor (upper only), and their parts are only about 5% higher than online sites, so I will patronize their parts department and make some new friends.
My Florida 420 SEL is like a new car, and I am sure it will be nice when it reaches it's 30th birthday. This is when it will soar in value if gasoline is still available.
I don’t recall you posting pictures of your new wood trim and leather. The proper way to say thanks is to show everyone how great your car looks![:)]

Sorry for not being proper. However, I did post a touch up photo showing what my leather looks like. I probably won't get new photos up anytime soon, because I am quite busy. However, I will follow your recommendation and "one day" post photos, when my interior is complete.
