I filled my car with 90 liters premium, (91 Octane) and only got 300km to that one tank! [:0] Does that seem excessive? (btw, it was just regular daily city driving - to and from work) Any thoughts?
Here’s what I got from my metric conversion web page for me the ugly American:
24 US gallons, 186 miles, say you used about 22 gallons with 2 gallons left as reserve, that would be a little less than 9 miles per gallon if the conversions are correct – yeah, that sounds a bit low. I do around 15 MPG in city driving; of course my engine’s a bit smaller but there should not be that much of a difference. Your earlier post about the rough idling, etc., may be the problem; when you get the idling problem fixed you’ll more than likely get better mileage. []
My gas mileage is also increasing due to the cold. I had the same problem when my plugs were fouled. The least I would do is change the plugs and see whether that helps. As for the rough idle, that's probably the plugs being fouled as you're burning some oil.
Another thing, I find it hard to believe you filled up with 90 litres. If I remember correctly, the tank is 91 litres with a 14 litre reserve. If the reserve light goes on, I usually do another 50km and then I fill up to the top with about 80 litres.
Have the same vehicle, get 600+ kms per tankfull, Driving 50% city and 50% highway. 100+ kph on highway.
You have something wrong. Air filter, O2 sensor.
PS Does everyone know that you can use an ford cobra mustang O2 sensor and splice the wires for a cost of about $35 US rather than $150?
