Looking for the right benz to resto...Please help

I would also like to know your opinion on what the best car is to restore.
This is my first project, so I would like something that I can find easy parts for, cheap parts, and a lot of support online or otherwise to fix these parts.
Please let me know.

We all drive the '81 to '91 S-Class (126 chassis cars), so we're all a little biased. I think they make a good choice. They have the classic Mercedes good looks, are relatively easy to work on, and the prices are low. This is one of the busier forums, so is good. You have a lot of engine choices. I like my 560 SEL. 200,000 miles and going strong.

But the w123 has not been blessed with the same good looks as the 126

I am also looking for a 'benz project. right now I am leaning towards a non-smog 350 or 450 sl. You can pick them out for less then 5K with a straight body, both tops, good running, but needing interior work and detail stuff.
