What is a Grey market car?

Probably sounds like a dumb question when you know the answer - which I don't - but have seen this term used a lot in U.S. Explanation please anyone?

So once conformed, can you later still legally put back on Euro spec lights etc?

as long as you pass the yearly safety inspection in your state, you should be ok. i guess a cop could still pull you over and ticket you if there's anything unsafe/illegal on your car, but it'd have to be pretty obvious for them to spot it (no doors, flame throwers in the place of headlights, etc.).

some other that might have been done is smog pump fitted, different cams

...a Smog Pump?

Another item I'm not familiar with, and which kinda gives me a mental picture of James Bond latest getaway gizmo from the evil one - while driving on London streets circa 1830. (Helluva picture!)
But seriously, to the unsmogged, what the heck is a smog pump?
