91 300SE A/C

the A/C will kick into the defrost mode (blows from the top vent) on any icrease of RPM. it will blow from the front vent once the engine has leveled off. is this normal with this model?

Did you experience this before ?

I never experienced this happening to mine
although I'm not sure coz' I never noticed.
I'll check tomorrow on my way to work.
So that's any increase right ? No specific RPM.
I'll post again tomorrow on my findings.
Anton
: the A/C will kick into the defrost mode (blows from the top vent) on any icrease of RPM. it will blow from the front vent once the engine has leveled off. is this normal with this model?

Re: 91 300SE A/C

I've had this car for a month, and it's been like this. This is on any increase of RPM. Someone at my office said there's a switch which kickes the A/C off during acceleration, so the car can have more power. but that doesn't explain why it also stops blowing from the front vent and blows from the defrost vent? The A/C cooling performance, even thought is fully charged and has been inspected by a mechanic is below average.

Re: 91 300SE A/C

On my way to work, the a/c went off when I
accelerated then I put my hand on top of the defrost
vent and the air was there. Weird. My guess is that
when you accelerate, it turns the a/c off and allows
fresh air from outside to come in through the defrost
vents. Although I don't know what switch your office mate
is talking about. I'll try and look for it in the
manual if it exists.
Have your vents cleaned. Also have you replaced your
belts recently ? Mine was really bad and when summer came,
my a/c was like blowing hot air. My mechanic changed the
belts, checked the freon and cleaned the vents
After that, my a/c was ice-cold.
Hope this helps.
Anton
was
: I've had this car for a month, and it's been like this. Re: 91 300SE A/C

Yes the belt is in very good shape. The A/C was serviced, because I noticed some air bubbles throught the little viewing glass. The Mechanic added about 1/2 can of R-12 because the pressure reading was good, but there are still some bubbles.
two questions: how did you clean the vent. do I need to disassemble something? and also if there is a vacuum leak, where can I look for this?
thanks,

If you have the AC set from the front or floor vents, it always stays there regardless of RPMS, etc
