380SE 0-60, 1/4 mile. top speed?

Would anyone happen to have an idea what these figures might be, for say, a 1985 380SE with the 116.963 3.8l V-8?
TIA,
Sam Parsons
85 380SE
87 Volvo 740 Turbo
Depends on the condition of your car but..(m)

That's a little optimistic for a 380 engine...
I'd say more in the 8-9 range.
I'm still waiting to get there on my 300SD.

Heh, it ain't fast. A US 380SEC will register 0-60 in 9.8 seconds according to an old Motor Trend. My US 380SE would do it between 9.5 and 9.8, depending on weather (that was with 150k miles on it). Motor Trend said the 380SEC did the 1/4 in 17.4 and I found typically the same with my 380SE, but when it got real good and cold out I could run a 16.8 (that was a one time deal - one time, on an engine that had been cooled a bit to get rid of heat soak, in 30 degree low humidity weather).

A euro 3.8 would keep up with a US spec 560 no problem, I know I was born there and have had many rides in Benz and Jaguars there. These detuned US versions are not why these cars were built, they need to run to live.

mines a euro... from a rolling start, it doesn't pick up well, but when i floor it from stand-still, she roars ;]

still, about 7-8 ish... haven't gotten it timed properly. (not that i'm going to anyways... time for a new car)

I agree, I have seen 380sec pull 227kmh (141mph) on autobahnen near Dresden. This is a feat many U.S. 560's would be hard pressed to match. I agree with Marlinspike, 0-60 would be in the high 9 second range with a top end of about 120-124 mph. always remember the 380 series was not intended to be their performance model but rather a smooth running fuel efficient entry level V8. Still a very nice motorcar.
