For those of you planning to stay over for the LA GTG while Ross is here and have yet to book your hotel accomendations, the prices are starting to fall as they have been predicted to for the Sportsmans Lodge. Currently, Tues/Weds/Thurs is at $132.00 per night and Fri/Sat are at $146.00 per night. If you are staying for 3 nights and using a Mastercard to book your room, you will recieve a $50.00 gas card. Both Expedia.com and Hotel.com have these rates. If you are looking to save a couple of bucks by booking over at the Days Inn, don't expect the rates to drop below $116.00 per night plus they are out of nonsmoking rooms on some nights.
I am waiting another week to book into the Sportsmans Lodge where I am betting the rate will drop down to the $125 per night rate. A bit of a gamble, but since I am semi-local it's not a huge deal if I don't get the room at what I think it will drop to.
Feels like I am working with the airlines again guessing on how low I can get a vacation for.

I think the out of towners are staying either at the Sportsmans Lodge, or Days Inn, both in Studio City, and next to the Ventura Blvd / Coldwater Cyn. intersection.
The 101 FWY Coldwater exit is less than a mile away.
Ross (420SE) will arrive on 7/29 eve, and stay until the 5th before returning to Australia
Hope to see you there.
Cheers
If you like, PM your mobile tel #, and i'll do the same.
I live in LA, I wouldn't mind meeting some new faces, especially the ones who dedicatthe e their time to helping me (and many, many others) out on Mercedes-Benz's! What is the itinerary exactly? Bar hopping?

After many month of prodding by Ross (420SE), I finally got Skype going, and shortly before his departure, Ross was the very first person I spoke with using the service.
I actually know what he looks like now.
Cheers

BTW, I got to meet a very interesting older Gentleman from Argentina, who as a kid from Fangio's home town, helped to prepare the Chevy and Ford engines he first raced in Argentina.
Apparently, Fangio insisted on taking him with him to Europe when he raced Formula One, to Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Maserati, and Mercedes Benz.
He was with Mercedes Benz for a number of years, and participated in the development of MB's first fuel injection system.
He must be in his late 70's, has a number of Mercedes Benz, and looks like a retired Gentlemen Polo player.
The one I saw was a pristine 560SL in white.
I hope to get him to join us on one of the evenings of our GTG.
Cheers

I can only make the Friday and Saturday festivities, I do hope that we do the wrecker yard tours on one of those days. Will be making my reservations shortly. Probably just Friday night.
