As we discussed earlier, I would love to come up from San Diego...even if my 420 might have to make it on the hook of a tow truck! Happy travels!!

I checked with SWMBO and we're in. Jim, you most definitely have a room in Vegas on your way south. We'll follow you to LA in the SEL (realizing that across the I-15 openness south of Vegas you'll blast out of sight over the horizon and we'll catch you later, when your AC dies again (AKA 2002 LV Gathering).

Where will we meet in LA and when? I'll get a room there or nearby.

Ross, do you have a hotel yet? If we meet there, you won't need to be embarrassed by driving up in a POS rental car. :-) BTDT

7/29 - 8/2 is Tuesday - Saturday. Want to do this Friday afternoon, 8/1? Is that enough time?

Inquiring minds, etc.

I'm in too! If we can firm up a date/time/place that would be great. I've got to bid my line for July and there are several LAX overnights or I might make the big drive down from Sacto if I don't non-rev. If for some unseen reason I can't make it down, I'll ask Cascade if he could swing a 1/4 mile detour by my place near the SMF airport on his way down from Grass Valley to take a package to Ross if somehow I also don't also make the July diesel meet.

Just waiting on some feedback from Teutone re hotel prices then will have a site.

It would be great if others were staying in the same place, not only would I not have to turn up in a rental (don't think TT was going to let that happen) but it would be nice to hang out with others over the few days.

PS AA I hope you can make it down...

Cheers

When I was there last October-November I stayed here Hotel Tarzana Lodging Tarzana - Tarzana Inn near Universal Studios Hollywood CA in Tarzana, reasonable rates, clean, safe area, freeway convenient to everywhere, about $90-$99 USD , smack on Ventura Blvd, reasonably near where Teutone lives, (important) and not impossibly far from some of the best breakers yards...

For glamour, of course, there is Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, West Los Angeles, everything on the "West Side" if you want that.

But I thought your visit in large part was to emphasie Mercedes Benz things and people from this board.

Therefore, what I was emphasizing was something more convenient for the Los Angeles benzworld residents who actually live in the area, and Teutone himself is intimately familiar with this part of town Encino/Woodland Hills/Studio City/Tarzana.

Los Angeles is a huge place, one hour drives from here to there are not unremarkable. Having an automobile is essential at all times. Taking public transit REALLY wastes time, trust me, I tried it a few times.

That definately sounds like something that might work, Mike. Thank you, I have not been in Las Vegas since that 2002 mbcoupes trip you did so much to make a great success, which I enjoyed thoroughly...I know how to get there (I think there is more than one way) but NOT how to get around there, it is a large city now.

Know that I will need to block off 8/2 in large part, to be in Orange County for another, utterly unrelated meet-up though...

I could do that, if need be, so long as the package is not a Mercedes Benz diesel engine, or a transmission or a rear end or something like that.

I checked rooms around LAX and there are LOTS of them available. I like the Marriott chain and found these - YMMV. Thanks to Google Earth, all seem to have parking lots that will work for an MB meet. Whatcha think??

Nothing big or greasy. Just one of those brand new solid gold 250km grill badges. I went down and applied for it with the SD before I rolled it into a 500km. Just 2400 more miles to go for my 500k. Aren't they solid platinum?

I am definitely interested. Did not get to meet Jim last time when he was down here. We missed each other just by minutes.
