A question for you:
How to I set the ignition timing?
The scenario is this: I have a rebuilt 380 engine and I need to install the ignition distributor. When I have set the timing previously it has always been on a running engine where the setting has been in the right ballpark. The instuction CD only describes something like this, or tells me how to reinstall a distributor, trying to mark it up before removing.
My fear is to start up the new engine only to trash it because it turns the wrong way around or something.
If you follow the directions in the manual it will get you started..hopefully right around 0 degrees. Then you set it w/ a timing light while the engine is running.
Distributor can't go backwards..only if the engine runs backwards and if that happens you have MUCH bigger problems.
