Okay guys got a hard one, my car has come to a stop in a place where I can not jack it up. I NEED the gearbox number to go ahead with a replacement but i cant see it just crawling under the car (can't get too far under as its too low).
Has anyone got any idea's? Is it seeable without jacking and I'm just looking in the wrong places?
Any help appreciated.

Jay, any 722.3xx gear box will work, just make sure its from a W126 as some of the later W124 E500E and W140, R129 722.3xx G'box rear ends are different. Youll be looking for the likes of 722.350, .353, .323 - the big daddy one to get is the 722.370 it has extra clutch discs and is a more stout box, you will have to swap the rear plates over though - no biggie just a 30mm socket for the coupling and a 13mm socket for the fastners and a 19mm for the kick down solenoid. Remember cleanliness is everything with auto transmissions.

Yeah im having a shop tackle this one, everyone i have called has said get them the number but where the car stopped it is very hard. I only have 1st and park and im in the grass JUST behind another car.
I'll get out there tomorrow and see what i can do, seems everything goes okay with the car so i spend big money on other items and then bang something dies. And any local shop who can do an LS1 conversion is booked full for months... Can't win!
