Help! Power loss/late shifting Diesel

350SDL with a 300SDL engine

This came out of nowhere yesterday. We did an oil change and a light hosing down of the engine (With degreaser) I didn't drive it until this mourning.

Everything works fine from a standstill until the first shift of the transmission. From there on out there isn't much power and it won't shift again until I reach much higher RPM (above 3000). Cruising at around 40 then pushing it does nothing, slow acceleration at first but eventually the rpms will surge up to 3500-4000 but still no power.

We're stumped, please tell me that someone here knows whats going on.

Change your fuel filters first. This is a typical problem with 300 sd and if this fixes it you will know next time what to look for.

I read about that here on the forums and i'll be picking up the filter before I get home today. I'm curious though, if it is the fuel filter, wouldn't I have noticed a gradual loss of power over time instead of having it happen all of a sudden?

you can also check if your car still might have the trap oxidizer which was recalled by mercedese benz....the symptoms u have mentioned usually are caused by the oxidizer and after its removed the car works perfectly
