HeirKranz's restoration #3 500sec (will take a while to complete)
Well I decided to get off my arse and start on the beast that has been sitting in my driveway for three years and not doing anything but collect dust. This car's previous owner decided to take this pristine 1982 euro 500sec and make a mikshake out of the engine it driving from SoCal to AZ -- you all get the picture--engine done!
This will be my first posting out of many--pics will be loaded as time progresses and i get time to work on it. As I ran a poll 2 months ago and most replied I should, for the time being put in a US 500 for the time being (which is sitting in my 500sel that i don't drive) I will work on the euro one late but have been itching to drive this one for a while
It was weird--whoever did the registered importing did a good job, but BMW cats, a FORD smog/air pump? and a couple other emisions crap that was put on puzzled me

as you can see from the previous pictures that it needs lots of bits, especially paint restoration-- here is after buffing a small section-- and then after most of the car-- anyone notice a difference?

AMG 19" rims are only temporary so no one get all upset over the size now!
I am contemplating puting my freshly painted silver ronal 15" pentas or selling them to get the real deal 16" pentas (or the rial M800s will be put on her when done)
the aeros look better on a gen 2 i think but you never know!
That is going to be a nice looking car. How did you get it all the way back without toasting the rear end if it was towed on a dolly all the way to Florida???!!
I am glad you are not taking crecit for the Euro license plate on the rear of the car when you bought it, because it looks lame.
16" painted Pentas would be perfect for that car as a Gen I coupe. It is going to clean up beautifully as so many do. You are luckier than me, I left mine pretty much outside and it killed the clear coat on the roof, and the car is in the body shop getting an expensive repaint because of this; it cracked the windshield (severe heat and cold temps outside finally killed it) and I just had the windshield replaced.
You learn the hard way that it is harder and more expensive to CATCH UP than to KEEP UP with cars like these.
After 10 years of "keeping up", just 2 years of neglect was hell when it came to "catching up" (but I am now almost aaught up, but financially exhausted, so to speak)
Very nice coupe you have there, I like it.
