Just getting ready to leave on a 700 mile trip. Checked the air in the tires, checked fluids, etc. Went out to eat and a guy followed me into the parking lot and said I had something wrong with the inside of my rear tire. Damn, a tennis ball side lump on the sidewall near the tread!!! Broken belt, I presume. Was planning on getting new skins before winter so I ended up buying 4 new Michelin Primacy MXV4s. Tire Rack gives them great raves. Painful though, even at Cosco - $586.
Small price to pay though if that puppy would have blown on the freeway at 80 miles an hour. Lesson learned and to be shared - check the inside of your tires, too.

Hey Smack,
Just bought a set of the same tires two weeks ago. Other than noise I'm impressed. Got a better deal on them, too.

Hey Smack. Was that with mounting and balancing? Actually doesnt sound too bad really. Cosco typically has some good deals...plus you get the bonus of the Cosco free 'lunch'. I suspect you went to the one on Gratiot north of 696.

Yep

Costco Roseville. Our second home. We have an Exec membership so we get a check every now and then for 2% on our purchases. Cool thing is that these tires are going on sale in a week and a half. The guys told me to bring my receipt in and they will do a return and then sell them again to me at the sale price.
As for the noise, I haven't found it so. As a matter of fact they are much quieter than the Goodyear Regatta 2 that was on it. Tire Rack tests ranked these skins better than the other three major tires in that range so I don't feel too bad about the price. All I know is that I am really lucky that guy was behind me.

Looks like I'll be headed to Cosco, Roseville for the sale. We just got an Executive Membership as well and need to rack up the dollars! Do you happen to know what the sale price will be? Cosco is a weekly Saturday ritual in our house!

Nope, but I'll find out. It will be less than 586 out the door, balanced, stemmed, free rotations, etc. Also, they used low torque impact to bolt and then hand tightened to torque.
