Why can't I find the right winter motor oil for my 83 300SD?
Owners manual indicates motor oil of 10w-30 for winter use, yet it seems even at the tractor supply shops the closest I can find is 15w-30.
For those of you with the older diesels, what are you running and where are you finding it? I don't want to put off oil changes just because I can't find the right oil.
I don't know why this is so confusing and so hard to find the right oil. It's almost enough to make me want to go back to petrol.

I'm running Rotella dino 15w40 year-round... the absolute coldest I'd EVER expect for my area is above zero by a few degrees, and even that is in an astonishing winter... for winter use in colder climes, I'd use Rotella 5w40 or something like that, just a tad thinner for the cold but not much different. They're not too picky.
