i'm looking at converting my m110 engine to full EFI (over time)
was wondering if anyone has had any experience or has done this modification.
also want to know what injectors to use, ecu etc...
i'm an electronics tech by trade but dabble in the automotive in my spare time (i've rebuilt engines in the past as well as non-efi to efi engine replacements in my project camira)
I also own an 83 280SE and am converting to EFI, actually DFI using Megasquirt.
I got the kit assembled and will test it shortly on my test bench (simulator).
I have collected the necessary sensors and am using injectors from a 350SE (high flow) as I am also planning on mapping the EFi to ethanol this summer.
If you are interested in what I have done and my progress, email me privately so that we can exchange notes. I expect to go from 185 hp to 205 and get under 10litres per 100 km at cruising speed.
I also have a bigger throttle body but will not fit this during my actual first build due this spring (march).
My dream is an M110 with 10.5 compression, real camshafts and E85. Such a setup would have more power than a 380SE and use less fuel.
I am having trouble getting my Bosch Mercedes OEM sensors calibrated but this is a minor problem.
I have fitted an air temperature sensor from an M116 D-jet to the air cleaner of the M110 and fitted a coolant sensor of the same source on the right side of the M110 block.
The system is operative on the test bench. Now comes the time to test it on the actual car.
im in the process to shift a M110 engine from k-jetronic to MS2 V3.0. The setup works fine, MS2 is doing spark for now. fuel is still on the k-jetronic.
does anyone has megasquirted a M110 before and can post his ignition advance table?
Mapping shouldn't be scary..you can auto tune for a base map w/ MSII and fine tuning is a matter of dyno time and a willingness to push that map around;-)
Baskarz, I'm in the process of converting my 560 to EFI. Started the project using Megasquirt, but, changed direction and I'm going with a different custom designed system. It's not difficult just takes time to customize parts and tune properly. If you want more info PM me.
