Idle Speed Control and Idle Valve

Hello folks, I need to order an Idle Speed Control and Idle Air Valve for my 117.963 engine (500SEL). I looked up the seller's websites under 500SEL and although the items look similar to what I have in the car, the part numbers (last digits) do not correspond. My question is, can I go ahead and install them in my car? They did indicate that the parts were for the 500SEL. I'm asking because it's a long way to order where I come from and I can't risk any mistakes.

Also, the car I recently got came with a nonfunctioning Idle Speed Control and Idle Air Valve, instead a rubber hose was inserted into the Idle Valve branch (thereby narrowing the opening) coming from the Idle Air Distributor, while the hard plastic hose from the Idle Air Distributor to the intake(manifold) was plugged. The owner said the car is driveable after warming up, but is it? I'm not about to risk messing up an engine, although I think I need to get the engine running once in awhile instead of just letting it sit there while waiting for parts. Any help would be much appreciated guys, thanks!

You might try the Russian MB site. Don't put in a mod. or vin, click on cars and scroll down, until you get to yours. Good luck. http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb.asp Ifyou don't find what you are looking for in our archives, check out mbcoupes and mercedesshop. The following file should help you out. Maybe Phillipino member: benzmizer can help with advise.

I have an 84 500SEC and I have had 2 different part# idle control units over the years. Either #002 545 40 32 (euro) or #002 545 33 32 will work. I am not sure if there is a difference. I do know they both go bad over time. Regarding the idle air valve, I would clean it up and install the correct rubber parts and valve and you won't have any problems for a long time. Those parts are easy to find.

Any of the parts sellers on this site will have the part you need. I personally like autohausaz. Good prices and prompt delivery.
