Question Question for 560 SEL 1988

Hi Guys,

I have 1988 560 SEL, which is running great, but every morning when I start a car it starts for one second and died immediately. Than I start it again and it runs without any problem.
After I drive it for 10-15 minutes and park a car for 5 min or longer, and start it again it starts most of the time immediately. It idles nice and smooth, you can rev it no problem, when I put in R or D, and press a throttle engine died immediatly. Than I start it for second time and in most in the cases it runs OK, but sometimes I have to start 2-3 times, till it's "pick-up".

I took fuel-distributor out, cleaned completely, took injectors check them out everything looks to be OK. Checked the fuel pressure OK.

Do you guys have any idea what it can be, did you had any similar problems, I will appreciate and suggestions.

Thanks in advance

Kapa

My 300 SE did this when I first got it. New cap/rotor/plugs fixed the problem; running great for a year and a half.

The inclusion of your car mod. and location in your profile would make it easier to offer advise. If you are in the U.S., mbusa has a 2 CD service manual for a mere $ 20. The DIY thread above has the link for the CD's and the index to install to HD with. Otherwise the search this forum function on the top right leads to all info the archive has re. your problem. Good luck. P.S. Forgot to ask whether you used a new bottom O ring when re installing the fuel distributor?
