Pool noodles!!!

I used my free time this weekend to finally do something about my soggy G1 seat. What I found was sagging springs and one broken spring. I wedged a $1.44 noodle around the perimeter as has been shown in several posts. Instantly my seat was firmer and my head much closer to the headliner at the seat's lowest setting.

While not a 'new' feel, the seat feels solidly and much better than before.
I first tried unbolting the upper track from the lower track, but was unable to get it off (I pushed forward and up). Then I had to removed the whole seat by unbolting it from the floor. This makes things heavier and more awkward and I wouldn't recommend it if you can get the seat off the track. I tipped the seat backwards, inserted the noodle and then bolted it back to the floor. About an hour because the bolts in back a bi-ch to get at.

I keep saying I am going to do this, but I never remember to pick up a pool noodle when I am at the store. I did mess around with the seat though to get a look at what was wrong, and found the same problem... broken spring. There is an easier way to get to it though. If you sit on the seat, you can pull down the leather along the bottom edge and the guts of the seat will be exposed without messing with the bolts and the weight of the seat. When you are done, just put pressure back on the seat and put the leather back into the slot.

The 3" noodle is great. The 4" star noodle is better.

Ben,

I beg to differ. I found the 3" noodle a bit too firm and raised me up too much. I think cutting off the round edgeds to get one or two flat edges would be better. Ideally we could find a higher quality foam with more give than the cheap noodle foam.

I finally got around to doing this last week. I don't know why I waited so long. It was so cheap and easy! Whoever thought of this idea is a genius.

Used the 1/2 inch pad

But now I have some pool noodles and will replace the 1/2 inch pad with them. I think it will be a lot better.

Noodles!

If you could post some pix how to do it, it'd be great. My seat is so worn that it hurt my right butt if I am driving a long trip.

Okay, thanks, I'd try it someday. How hard is it to remove the seat and put it back?

Not 'hard", but physically demanding. Also, you'll need a helper if the metal rod that skewers the belt anchor comes undone.
