280SE Repair Manual

I am in the process of fixing up a W126 grey market car , it was originally sold in Columbia then imported into Florida. The exact problem is the car has no spark.
I had problems getting a read on what the car was (model etc.). I was checking the VIN through US based web sites and could get no information , I was able to get some info from a Russian Website (www.mbclub.ru/mb/vin) the info 280 SE , Chassis 1260221A118110 , Transmission 722300 02 577703 . Is the information from that Website accurate?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Robert

RE: 280SE Repair Manual

126.022 is a 280 SE, 722.000 should be the correct transmission – I believe the site to be accurate, it ID’d my cars correctly.

Do you by chance have a picture of the tag?

RE: 280SE Repair Manual

I don't but could get one (it that the tag under the hood near the grill?) , the car is not at my shop yet as I can't get it to run . As I said no spark , I tryed a used ignition module (even though the number was slightly different the guy at the salvage yard said it would work, my module was Bosch 0227 100 023 the one I put in was 0227 100 042) .

Thanks
Robert

RE: 280SE Repair Manual

Hey man welcome aboard! I too have a w126 280se (1984) graymarket.
Good luck with fixing it up, my car is in decent condition except for a high idle im working on fixing.
Not to hi-jack your thread/post, but do you have the 280se badge on the deck lid? or does it say 500se, like many greymarket cars do.
