RE: It's truly amazing...

At work the customers, who of course don’t know my name, refer to me as the ‘supervisor who drives a Mercedes,’ there’s no mistaking these cars for any other, there’s no doubt as to what you drive – even among the most automotive clueless.

RE: It's truly amazing...

I dont know if any of u guys have experienced this before.

I found a piece of paper kept under my wiper blade, got mobile phone numbers on it , i called that number , a girl answered, asking my personal. I dont pursue further since i dont know how she look like. Maybe next time she should attach her photo as well. Yep, i think girl love to ride in big benz., or love to ride the guy with big benz one way or the other..[8D]

RE: It's truly amazing...

I don't think i can add any more than has been already said, but i love the attention my benz gets. I love to keep her spit and polish shiny. I am often approached and asked what year and make my benz is and to a man they are surprised and often comment how much better looking it is than current models. Tarquin

RE: It's truly amazing...

some days ago when i was driving on the 4lane road here, a w124 300TDT taxi with 3-4 passengers came. The driver placed the car next to mine in the other lane, and he accellerated and braked and looked on my car. So i accellerated, and he followed on the side of me all the way until I drove off the highway.

And allmost everytime im at the gasstation, someone talks to me about my car :)

WORD!

i really don´t get it why you people get attracted by people saying your car looks like its a new car?!

we are driving these cars because they are nice classic cars and not because we like the people to think its a new car, if i wanted i wouldve got a newer car....

What makes me feel good is when people say that my car is "like new" - i.e., that it looks like a 1987 420SEL that just came off the showroom floor. Anyone who thinks one of our 126s - in any condition - "looks like a new car" (as in "looks like a current-production new car") needs an eye examination or a change of medication - they're seeing things!

I take the comment "looks like a new car" as a compliment to the condition of my car, and the extensive (and expensive!) care I have taken to get and keep it there. Any idiot (well, almost [;)]) can keep a new car looking good, at least for a couple years - but it takes much more work and commitment to keep an 18-year-old car looking "like new".

RE: It's truly amazing...

Heres one for you..I'm driving down the highway the other day and the owner of a G-500 pulls along side and gives me a thumbs up which I humbly reply to with a thumbs up of my own. Then he points forward and gives a thumbs down...2 minutes later I understood what he was getting at. I followed him and what a saw was a 420SEL in pitiful condition, the paint was filthy, rusty, and it was sagging badly and to top it off th hood star was bent to the side. [xx(] Whereas my 1991 350SDL was spotless [:D] (If its not clean I won't drive it)

RE: It's truly amazing...

face it. most people dont know a damn thing about cars except to get in and drive them and have them serviced once in a while. None of us is trying to fool anyone into thinking our W126's are new. Its called PRIDE OF OWNERSHIP ! Its just nice to have our time & effort recongnized by the public. Anybody who has a problem with us getting a "little wood" from having our W126's admired can SUCK IT LONG and SUCK IT HARD ! [:D]
