Looks like a car a woman would take to the beauty salon. Very sanitized and feminine, just like my 2001 S500. Totally lacking the masculine lines of the 126 and 140.

I agree, but it kinda fits though. Why? IMO Ford bombed with the new 500 that has the old "bar-of-soap" styling while Chrysler/Dodge has a runaway sales success with the 300/Magnum (I just bought a Magnum). Ford claims it WANTED to stick with it's conservative styling customers. Seems Mercedes wants the same thing with the new S class. Don't rock the boat with Hip-Hop styling that might just be strend setting.
I don't know if it is just the angle or the color of the car, but in Janos_z second picture the rear end of the car looks HUGE...

I was thinking that it looks more like a Lexus than a Benz. It seems to be a move toward blending in with the other cars in the segment rather than standing out as a MB should.
