I would like to start a directory of all the real AMG owners out there. I have an 85 500sel with the 32v 5.0. I am completely restoring the car, and will be fabricating new gasgets and other amg specific parts that cannot be purchased. I would love to offer some of these parts to my fellow AMG owners. I think that it would be outstanding if we could start a resource network to help eachother, share literature, tips, mechanics, parts, ideas, stories.... etc. I am volunteering to publish a directory and distribute it to anyone who contacts me, and can verify they have an amg. Please send me your contact info, a description and picture of your car. Only include information you are comforatable sharing with others. Feel free to submit antecdotes, any related items you would like to sell etc. I will then make a directory in a pdf format and email it out. I will also make print copies for those without computers, if you know anyone in this category, sign them up or send me a contact number. Send all information to hans@aetperformance.com
Thanks
Hans
Fabricating parts like gaskets you say? You would be my, as well as many other M117 32-valve owner's savior!!! Sign me up for the list. I will send you pics later today of my engine bay to verify authenticity. I'm having some paint work done to some trim but can still take a pic of the car for you. I will get my friend who lives near me to sign up as well, he owns a W124 6.0 32v Hammer. He actually owns a valve adjustment tool with AMG stamped on it and is trying to figure out how it will work since these motors need valve attention a lot. Maybe you guys could collaberate some ideas on how to better it. He said he understands the concept but thinks it could work better. He has many resources. I'm glad you're stepping up! How long have you had your 32v and how much do you know about them? (Are you a long time enthusiast or brand new?)

I was thinking... would it be possible to make a copy of an AMG engine? As in.. for example, take the real valve cover and mold it and send it to a professional who can make several copies? I don't have a m117.. but I do plan on getting a black/black or black/grey 560SEC with low miles once I am done with school. I would like to make it as close as to AMG as possible. Finding a REAL AMG would very hard... by the time I am out of school and well into my real career... money shouldn't be an issue. Let me know...

I have had my amg for about 3 years. I know omegabenz/mcleoud. I almost bought that hammer. I had been watching it for about 6 months, and was saving the money to buy it when he picked it up off yahoo auctions. I am familiar with the 32v, but have never cracked open the head on my own. I am very fortunate to have found a mechanic in cincinatti, who built several 32v cars at the dealership in the 80's. He currently has my car, and is doing the mechanical restoration for me. I am a fairly good wrench, but have always been affraid of servicing the car because of its rarity. I knew that if i broke it while working on it, i wouldnt be very happy with myself. I have access to several good machine shops, and other fabricators. The plan is to make several sets of spark plug wires, cam tower gasgets, and other amg specific bits. If i can get omegabenz to lend me his valve tool, i could probably get it duplicated for everyone, and have my mechanic write up instructions on how to use it. Get the word out, and also, try and get that car in the condo under the car cover. If he doesnt want to sell it, tell him that i may be able to fix it. Since my motor is on the bench, it would not be hard to compare the two, and fix his broken 32v. Lets get as many as we can back on the road.
Thanks
Hans
