What's up guys im new to this forum and im looking for some help..I have a 88 300e I just replaced headgasket,intake,and exhaust gasket, im having a cold/warm high idle,then engine dies and doesn't start back up,,I pulled plugs and the engine is flooding,smoke from exhaust smells of raw fuel..what could be the problem im stuck,someone bless my with some knowledge. .
First i would check all the vacuum hoses .Take special attention to the large ones under the innlet manifold that fit on the ACV .Only saying this because the hoses under the manifold take a lot of getting back on once they come off , and you worked close to it .Also check all the small vaccum pipes , along with the fuses in the fuse box give them a clean ,do them one at a time taking note of the location you move them from.
As suggested, spark is to be ruled in or out. When the car doesn't start, immediately pull a spark plug and lay it on something metal with the wire reattached. Have an assistant crank the engine while you look for a spark across the plug gap. This is your first step.
