Unhappy Help: Shock absorber protector installment

Hi, I've been trying to fit new shock absorber protections on front struts. However, they don't hang from bottom of the strut mounts. I called the shop to send them in case they are wrong size. Today I got the exactly same size ones. Their top parts are too small to fit to the bottom of the mounts.

Since my old protections are all gone, I don't know how supposed to look like. I search all over the internet but could't find the answer. Help!!

Are you talking about the bump stops?

In that case, you need to pull the shock, remove the boot, and then reinstall the new bump stop

Thank you, sbaert.

I am talking about not the bump stop but the boot. I've replaced with new strut, strut mount, new bump, and trying to fit the boot. Here in the photo, top of the boot is not small enough to fit inside of the mount over the bump stop(yellow in the photo) or big enough to go over the edge of the mount. I have no idea!

The boot doesn't fit inside the strut mount. The boot fits over the three fingers/prongs that are strapped on to the strut.

Thank you, Jayare.

The boots top is not big enough to fit over the prongs. Do I have to take the strut to be fitted the boot??

IIRC, the BOTTOM of the boot is clipped to the top of the strut body. the top of the boot is just floating.

. . . . . . . . . .

I believe the top of the boot is intended to fit over the two 'ears' shown in your photo. My boot had obvious stretch marks where it had been stretched over at one time. It is now a little too loose and doesn't stay in place as well.

Thank you, LeftCoastGeek.

That is happening right now. But the bottom of the boot are a little big that partially come off and hitting the inside of tire! Then I thought the boot supposed to hang...

Thank you, luckymike.

Then like you said I've tried to fit the top of the boot over the ears of the bottom of the strut mount but too small to slide up.

Then I wonder the boot should be up side down from my current setting in my photo..it means top side of the boot is flare out....umm

Here's a rather poor pic I took of my car just now. It looks like the boot is supposed to fit around the flange at the base of the mount.
