Help! Trying to save my E320 daily workhorse!

1994 E320 wagon, headlight switch failed, shorted/melted/burned parking lights wire(P30) from headlight switch to ignition switch. I am having trouble gaining enough access to the wires running near this burned wire to check condition/repair/replace those affected. I have the knee bolster off, the instrument cluster out, but still not able to see everything. Do I have to take the whole dash out? Any useful suggestions greatly appreciated.

Sadly, there's no "good" way to access that area of the wiring. It might help if you removed the driver's seat. That would at least give you space to lay on your back and look up.

Keep us posted and good luck.

^This. Without pulling the dash, be prepared to do a lot of upside down fishing.
