hissing sound from rear of the car

I hear a hissing sound from the outside rear of my 95 E320 wagon. It definitely is not a leaking tire. What could this be, fuel pump? Is this a normal sound?

Phil

It could be the fuel pump. To find out, get somebody to turn the igintion on whilst you listen to the pump just in front of the rear pssanger side wheel.
It runs for about 2 seconds everytime the igintion is switched on to prime the system.

Hissing noise

It is a constant noise, even after the engine is running. It does not sound like exhaust leak. I do not have any increased engine noise, just the hissing. I will check to try and locate the exact origin of the sound. I was curious if anyone else had heard similar sound.
Thank you

Whilst the engine is running, if it is the fuel pump, it will be constant. The reason for my earlier suggestion was so that you could hear it with out the engine noise in the background.
