Our 300E 12V has an odd problem.
When the engine is cold, it starts without a problem.
But once it's on operating tempature, it will stall.
We think it's maybe something on the fuell-pressure-regulator or something with the ignition.
People have had this problem before. Read this post, This may be your problem:
Hi,
Replace the fuel injection temperature sensor. Your fuel control system does not run properly if this sensor is faulty. Because this sensor sits on the engine block and senses very high temperatures, it is very likely that it has gone bad. This is about a 40 to 50 dollar MB part and I will do this first before moving on to more complicated and expensive possibilities.
I had a similar problem with my 1987 260E, the sensor fixed it. I also had to depress the pedal completely to start a hot car once it was turned off for a few minutes. In these cars, once you turn off the car, the cooling fan which is mechanical also shuts off, and the engine temperature rises dramatically before it can cool down. On my 260E, the fuel injector temp sensor is the very last sensor on the engine (way back towards the windshield). I must say, it was hard to remove, so you may want to ask a MB tech to replace it for you.
