Brake Pedal id really loose, please help if you can
I just fixed my front brakes 1 day ago. And ever since then, I have to push the pedal past half way for them to even start working. Now my dad said that they will eventually adjust them selves. But I don't know, can someone tell me if I have something to worry about or is my dad right??

Yes, the pedal will be slightly lower with new pads -- actually I would descibe it as "softer", not lower. What your dad says is true for most cars that have rear drum brakes. Mine are all disc brakes. I'm not familiar with the '86. Did you bleed the brakes? You probably have air in the lines that need to be bled out.

The pedal should be just about solid even with new pads.
If the pedal requires a significant amount of movement to get stopped, then something is wrong.
I suggest you take things apart again and check that all the pieces are in the right places.
If you opened up the hydraulics you will need to bleed them. Not a difficult job, just a bit of a pain.
This is one of those cases where you can not afford to "wait for things to fix themselves"....they won't.
