Dirty Diesel

To ALL Diesel Powered MB owners. Does anyone know how to clean off the soot from the exhaust? As of right now, my whole left side has a thin layer of soot on it and it doesn't come off. My left taillight is now "smoked" and is darker than the one on my right side. the spacing around the badges also has some soot. Is there any special chemical that will clean it off? Any feedback will be helpful. Thanks in advanced.

Here's the other taillight for a comparison. The digi cam is crap. Both picts were taken at the same time, but the lightining still appears VERY different.

3M

3M makes a bug, tar, wax and adhesive removeer that is sure to do the job. I've used it on my 90 300d with success. Keep a bucket of soapy water nearby when using it. You'll need to wax after as with any wax and tar remover.
